Print a PowerPoint Poster on Multiple Pages
A single PowerPoint slide can become a large poster on a home printer. Export the finished slide as an image, then divide that image into printable pages.
Open the PowerPoint poster layoutMake one slide the complete poster
Use one slide for the entire design, not a handout with several slides per sheet. Choose a slide shape that suits the intended poster, make titles and chart labels large, and keep important text and faces away from likely joins. Save an editable copy before exporting.
Export the selected slide as an image
In PowerPoint for Windows, select the slide, choose File → Save As (or Save a Copy), choose PNG or JPEG and, when prompted, select Just This One. On PowerPoint for Mac, open the slide, choose File → Export, choose PNG or JPEG and Save Current Slide Only; where available, set Width and Height before exporting. Menu names and options vary by version. PrintTiler needs the resulting image, not the PPTX file.
Check pixels and proof small text
Inspect the exported image at full size. Pixel width divided by intended print width in inches gives approximate pixels per inch: 3000 pixels across 30 inches is about 100 PPI. More sheets increase size, not source detail. On Mac, the export dialog may let you set image width and height. On Windows, consult Microsoft’s current export guidance if the output is too small; do not assume changing slide text alone increases export resolution. Print a proof containing the smallest chart labels.
Choose a grid and check the seams
The suggested 3 × 3 landscape A4 layout uses nine sheets and has a nominal footprint of 891 × 630 mm before margins, trimming or overlap. Match the grid to your slide shape. Many printers cannot print to the paper edge even in seamless mode; test two adjacent pages, and remember trimming cannot recover unprinted content.
Print the slide as a tiled poster
- 1. Complete and proofread one slide, then export the selected slide as PNG or JPG.
- 2. Open the suggested layout and upload your own image; the preset contains no artwork.
- 3. Choose the loaded paper, rows, columns and orientation; inspect the crop and joins through headings and charts.
- 4. Export the tiled PDF and print a proof at Actual Size or 100%, one PDF page per sheet. Do not apply poster tiling again in the PDF viewer.
- 5. Print the remaining pages using identical settings, align the image and tape from behind.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upload a PPTX directly?
Export the finished slide as PNG or JPG first and upload that image.
Does printing multiple slides per sheet make a poster?
No. That shrinks separate slides onto one sheet; this workflow splits one slide over several sheets.
Why is the printed text blurry?
The exported image may have too few pixels. Check its dimensions and print a proof before enlarging further.
Can I keep the slide editable?
Yes. Keep the PowerPoint source; the image is a separate export for printing.
